Cook in Bulk
I cook a whole pound of spaghetti or rice at once and freeze it in single serving sizes. This saves me time at night and I don't have to worry about how much dry spaghetti or rice to cook to get 1 serving -
Selzer water instead of soda
Instead of drinking diet soda, I drink selzer water, which is bubbly but has no sugar, sodium/salt, preservatives. I drink the naturally flavored ones - LOML drinks it plain. This way we get the bubbles without the other stuff.
You can turn regular (plain) yogurt into Greek yogurt by straining it in a colander lined with cheesecloth - this saves money, too....
I have brewed green tea in the refrigerator for years - just yesterday, I realized I could brew it in my water bottle, too. Duh!
Spray Oil savings
I use a Misto sprayer for spraying oil for frying or on a salad - this is a metal canister that you pressurize by pumping the lid. It is way cheaper to use than buying spray oil (like PAM, etc.) and just as effective.
You can also use a variety of oils, this way - not just what the manufacturers mix up -
I find that if I am feeling a bit discouraged, a sure way to change my mood is to stop by random spark pages and leave an encouraging comment or a spark goodie -
Join a team
One thing to do early on is join a team - there seem to be some "default" teams, like the one for the week you join - but it is an easy way to "meet" people and make friends.
In addition to using a salad plate as a dinner plate, I also use my salad forks as dinner forks to help me eat more slowly & take more bites.
Fake it to make it
When you feel "unmotivated", try acting "as if" you were motivated or acting as a motivated person would - the feelings will follow the doing.
This works for redirecting all feelings.
