Breathe, breathe, breathe

Are you feeling a bit stressed today? When I feel frazzled, I tune out the world for a minute by closing my eyes and taking several slow deep breaths. (This works during an argument as well to diffuse the tension with a short time-out.) Wishing you peace and a sense of calm, Sparkers.

What do Rich People Do?

I've worked for a very wealthy man for over 24 years! He STILL uses coupons, believe it or not. That said, I started seeking his advice and the advice of others, like Dave Ramsey and Clark Howard. As a result, I am totally DEBT FREE and have almost a quarter of a million dollars in the bank. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GET SMART & GET CHEAP!

One big thing I did is Dave Ramsey's "envelope system" where you go back to the days of "yore" (LOL) and put a little out of each check into an envelope!

Not getting your 8 cups of water?

Not drinking enough water? Most people should drink at least 8 cups of water daily, but for various reasons some fail to do so. Here's a little secret that is a sure fire way to add an extra cup of water, if not more with no hassle: Add hot spices (not salt) to your food or perhaps make a small but spiiiiicy side dish! Try Tabasco sauce, chili powder, Cajun seasoning or spice curry! Be creative! :)

Why I don't have TV

I figure if I have time to sit down and watch TV, then I have time to be at the gym, or walking my dog, or spending time with family and friends. So I chose not to have a TV-but if you have one, turn it off and get outside!

Just Move

when I started Spark I had a hard time moving. So i started small. I would walk around my drive way counting my steps. The next week I was walking down the street. Each week I add how much I would walk. Then I joined a Gym that I go to three times a week. I stopped making excuse for my self. I get up early and do everything first thing in the morning. I don't give my self time to talk my self out of it. So the point of all this is just get up and move! emoticon

Choosing a gym that doesn't make me feel like a blob

I visited MANY gyms and health clubs, but always felt intimidated and overwhelmed by the skinny fit people, and well, I'm not. I felt like I would always be judged, and my body image was even worse when I was exercising than when I wasn't. emoticon However, I recently joined a YMCA club near me, and the members are all shapes and sizes and ability levels. I feel right at home and workout at my place without feeling judged or uncomfortable. emoticon

Health and wellfare tip......

I have been taking my laptop outside and have been sparking on the deck. That way I get to enjoy sparking and nature at the same time. I'd rather be a deck nerd than be a kitchen table nerd!
