Although diabetes raises the chances of developing heat illness, many people with the condition don't know how to reduce their risk. Do Not stay in the sun very long, wear hats and layered clothing. Also,watch your meters and supplies. Keep out of the heat and direct sunlight...eg. cars, etc. People with diabetes have an impaired ability to sweat, which predisposes them to heat-related illness, as do uncontrolled high blood sugars.
I send an email to companies that make products I really like and tell them how much I like their products or how they improve my/my family's lives. You'd be surprised what they will send you just for taking time to send in a complement. I do sometimes ask for coupons to help with my budget and they usually mail a whole bunch of coupons. If you're "vertically challenged" like me, you know how difficult it is to get high enough to push down on your apple slicer to cut through and more often then not it ROLLS to one side! I've found that if I put the apple top side down that it stabilizes the apple making for an easier cut!
I often ignore things on my to-do list for weeks. So I try to accomplish just 3 things every day. It can be whatever 3 things from my to-do list I want; it's an easier target than doing everything; if I get them done early it motivates me to do more; It sets me up to over-accomplish and feel good rather than disappoint myself.
No matter what I feel like I have promise myself that I will do my Spark point page. At times you may not think you can't walk one more step but you can. I at the moment am very sick from chemo but I am determine to finish my page. Life is hard at times but I, in rough times try & see how hard I can be & force myself to buckle down & get it done. Pull that extra will power, strenght you have too finsh what you set out to do.Never, ever give up, always finish. Smile and be happy with yourself.
Soak and rinse your beans before preparing cause that removes all the sugars that ferment and cause gas. Also cook beans slowly. Beans can lower bad cholesterol,triglycerides & are an excellent to prevent & treat diabetes. They provide sustained energy. Beans arehelpful in constipation, about 20 carbs &8 grams of fiber. They are full of both soluble and insoluble fiber and have the most fiber of any veggie. Cheap, fiborous,curbs hunger, helps obese, high in antioxidants,vitamins & good carbs.
I bring a plastic bag with me when I go out for a walk. Any deposit bottles found on my walk go into the plastic bag. The change from bottle returns is added to my change jar. This money is then deposited into my savings account at the end of each month. I'm saving money while helping the environment.
Working at a desk job, not only do I get bored, I also lack any kind of movement. So now I keep a pedometer in my pocket and each time I have to go to the copier, see a coworker or have to walk anywhere, I make sure to take the "long way". Co workers think I am crazy, but thats ok. I get in atleast half of my steps in this way without even going for a "walk".
