Talk to your doctor about effectively treating any mental health problems like depression. Depression can make an easy task (making your own lunch) difficult and can make a difficult task (saying no to a cookie) impossible. Weight loss becomes doable when you no longer need to rely on food to feel good.
Keep track (in blog or journal form) what worked for you the previous day. Think through what temptations you might come across later in the day and write out how you can set yourself up to overcome them.
Start by giving yourself permission to eat what you want. As soon as you tell yourself, "tomorrow I'm going to stop eating cookies" you want to head straight for the cookie jar. Instead, give yourself options. So I can eat 1 cookie or I can save the calories to have a little extra at dinner.
