We have a couple of things we do:
1. Buy our chicken breast in bulk and portion out at home to Food Saver bags. This helps in portion control and saving money.
2. We purchase our other meats "whole" through a local farm and put it in our freezer. We get our beef and pork at half price.
Last year my husband and I converted our gas logs to actual wood... and we saved over $1500 on our heating bill last year alone. It was an investment. We should be even in less than 5 years if we continue to save this much each year.
I save money by making my laudry detergent. I use one bar of Fels Naptha soap, 1/2 cup of Washing Soda, and 1/2 cup of Borax. Grate the soap and combine with the washing soda and borax. It works great and so much cheaper than purchasing ready made from the store. :)
