Applesauce can be substituted for vegetable oil. It contains less than half of the calories and almost none of the fat grams. It's also very, very easy to make yourself.
Remember that, even if you are doing your workout in front of a mirror and things are jiggling on your body that you don't want to see, you are doing that workout for a reason. Visualize the way you will look and the things that you'll be able to do when you are fit and have reached your goal.
I started tracking all of my food, but not really trying to stay within my target ranges for the first few days. This allowed me to see where I stood and make small changes to my daily food choices, without getting discouraged.
Every day, I try to make one small change from the day before. It could be drinking a little more water or walking a little more or reading one more success story to keep me going. All of those small steps will eventually add up to a whole new lifestyle!
