I try a new exercise each month - usually as a sort of reward to myself. I've gone biking, done yoga, gone kayaking, swimming, etc... Things I don't typically do as part of my workout routine. Soon I'm going to play raquetball. :)
It has really helped me to plan my meals in advance and pack food to being with me to work. I eat 4 - 6 smaller meals thoughout the day rather than just a big lunch and dinner. The benefits? More control with my bs & successful weightloss!
When I'm feeling negative I always find that it helps to listen to an upbeat, positive, empowering song. Sheryl Crow's "Soak Up the Sun" is a great choice!
I like cardio because it feels like the most "bang" for your caloric buck, but don't neglect strength training for a more well rounded fitness routine. Building muscle makes you a more efficient calorie burning machine! Who doesn't want that?
I write a lot of lists. Things to buy, chores to do, appointments to make, people to call, etc. I carry a notebook and my blackberry with to do lists all of the time. It keeps me going! Although, my friends lose to tease me about being the "list lady." I can handle that, though!
My all time favorite diet friendly dessert is sugar free, fat free cook and serve chocolate pudding. I let it cool, then mix 1/2 cup of pudding with about 1/3 - 1/2 cup of Cool Whip Light. It tastes like Chocolate Mousse. Sometimes I have it with strawberries for a little extra decadence.
When I get off track, the best way for me to get back on track is to plan everything. I make a meal plan for the upcoming weke, do my gracer shopping, and prep as much in advance as possible. That way, I have a plan to follow so that I get back to following a regimin.
