Marching to a different drummer

While many people like to exercise to peppy dance music, or popular tunes, or oldies, I love to walk to Sousa Marches. They have a great walking beat, and are always enthusiastic. You just keep walking, like the energizer bunny, keeping the beat!

Pita Alwatan

For weeks I have been looking for a type of whole wheat bread that has no added sugar, molasses, or HF corn syrup, with no success. Then I found these whole wheat pitas at Wegmans supermarket. They are large pitas, which can be cut or sliced in half. They are 190 calories and have no sweeteners or additives.

Green, Red, Yellow, Orange Bell Peppers

I have found that when I use only part of a bell pepper, it keeps longer if I first use the flesh from the bottom or sides of the pepper. I cut of slices from the sides, leaving the top and core intact. The core and seeds seem to keep the pepper from beginning to spoil.

Veggie Prep

No this isn't where I went to school!

It's how I make sure I always have fresh fruits and vegetables ready to use when I need them.

When I return from the store with fresh produce, I immediately draw a dishpan of lukewarm water with a tiny bit of dish soap in it. I trim off stems or brown spots, then I wash and rinse the produce, then dry in the drainer.

Then I wrap the items in a clean tea towel, place in a zipper bag and pop in the fridge.

They stay fresh for over a week!

Housework and Yardwork

Doing housework is not "my thing." My profile picture is more aspirational than representative of what I love doing. Likewise with working in the yard. I took a play from the SparkGuy's playbook, and tried making a LITTLE goal. Now I do 20 min. per day of work outside, and 20 min. per day of housework. This works for me!

Dancing My Way to My Goal

Who would ever like a boring dance step that just went:

Forward, Forward, Forward, Forward???

What's wrong with Two steps Forward, then One step Back?

My secret to getting a good dental checkup

I have a Braun rechargeable toothbrush that I use daily. Since I have used it, I haven't needed any dental work except routine cleaning. I use it for the 2 minutes recommended by dentists, and it has been a great investment for my health and for my pocketbook!

"green" ceramic coated frying pan

I'm loving the new frying pan I bought recently. It has the hard ceramic coating called "green" because it does not emit toxins when heated to a high heat as do other non-stick pans.

Watch Spark Time

This may be a surprise to Sparkies, but I think it's important to watch how much time I spend here, collecting Sparkpoints and reading articles, blogs, etc. These things are important and can be motivating, but for me, it's important to MOVE, so getting points by exercise, walking, and tracking food are more important, even if I could log up more by reading and playing trivia.
