Ok...so I am new here, but,...I blast some music and pretend I am clubbing (which I have actually never done). I dance as though everyone is watching and I am a world class dancer like Fergi or Pink. Even as I am out of breath, I think, but the world is watching! They bought tickets to this show!
I listen to upbeat music every chance I get, especially while doing chores and driving. When I'm listening to a good song then my foot is tapping, and most likely I'll even start dancing! Unloading the dishwasher, dusting, cleaning bathrooms and cooking are just some of the chores that are more fun, and burn more calories, when you add a little boogy!!
Write down and answer the questions they ask on the Success Stories section. Even if you are a little ways from your goal, reading it everyday and imagining yourself as being successful at your goal helps make it feel so much more achievable!
I squeeze in extra cardio while I clean my house. I put my headphones on and blast a workout mix, and get really into it. I dance while I clean, and take little breaks for jumping jacks, squats, crunches, etc. It's fun, burns a ton of calories, and gets my house sparkling! I replace one gym session per week with my Dance/Clean.
Help Food Tracker be more flexible & accurate - enter new favorites in different size servings. For example, my almond milk nutritional info as 1 serving = 1 cup. But what if I like to pour a small splash into coffee? I re-entered (and saved) a new entry using "1 serv = 8 oz" since 1 cup equals 8 oz, right? Then I can guess my splash to be 1 oz or 1/4 oz (or I could resave info with however many Tablespoons per cup.). It would work with metric too.). Makes Life Easier!
I love going through the list of possible SparkPoints and completing as many as possible. It motivates me and keeps me on track at the same time. I have fun earning points to send SparkGoodies to others and it reminds me to track my food, exercise, and to check out various aspects of the site.
I'm training for my first 5k--my goal is reaching that distance every time I'm on the treadmill not completing it within a certain amount of time. I know that as my training progresses the time will start decreasing. BUT hitting that goal of completing a 5k each time I train reassures me that I CAN complete my first 5k in May! So next time focus on hitting your DISTANCE goal and NOT put your focus on the time!
On days you don't think you have the energy to exercise, give yourself the 10 minute challenge, it you just do that more than likely once you start you will continue and before you know it, you have completed an awesome workout.
My secret to working out is not to overthink my workout! When I start to do this, I will come up with every excuse not to workout. Eg: I'm too tired, not enough time, I don't feel like it, I can't. I have learned to just get moving and jump right into some kind of exercise. I feel great afterwards and don't have to put myself through the guilt of not reaching my daily workout goals.
