Today is your only chance...

Today is your only chance to do it today. Today is the only chance you have to exercise today. Today is the only chance you have to eat right today. Today is your only chance to prevent regret at the end of the day for what was not done today.

Getting a reality check

Run SparkPeople Reports such as "Calories & Nutrients over time" and "Calorie Differential Over Time" for a reality check.

Looking at those graphs today really highlighted for me why my weight loss is so very, very slow.

Change a habit

Look at when you are eating and see if you can change something to make it difficult to eat at that time - sign up for a class, plan to call a friend, etc. -- anything that forces you to stay away from eating opportunities during your vulnerable times.

Avoiding the Goodies at the Grocery Store

I find that am not nearly as tempted by the chips and ice cream at the grocery store if I make detailed menus in my Nutrition Tracker while I am creating my grocery list.

I plan the next 7 days down to the last calorie. When I go to the store, I know that if I add a treat, something on my list must go to keep within my calorie limit. I remind myself that trading junk food for a healthy item does not help me reach my goal.

Measure your bowl capacity for portion control

Use a measuring cup and water to determine the capacity of each of your bowls so you can portion fruits, rice, etc. without using a measuring cup each time. It they are all very large, pay attention to the fill level for 1/2 c. and 1 c. for future reference.
