If I keep within my calorie count, I give myself a small reward after posting all my food for the day. I have 30 sugar-free chocolate covered peanuts in a little box I made in my first pottery class (1 for each day of the month). If I've stayed within my calorie range I reward myself with a single peanut. The feeling that I've earned it seems to make it taste wonderful AND I'm proud to watch the pile go down.
I took an idea I read here about using marbles to keep track of weight loss and added a little twist. Instead of marbles, I'm using beads. I have a dish with a bead for each pound I want to lose. As I take a bead from my 'old weight' pile, I slip it onto a ribbon to wear as a necklace. That way I can remind myself throughout the day how well I'm doing. And I get to see my 'old weight' pile get smaller each time I remove a bead. When I reach my goal, I'll make them into a permanent necklace.
