when you're making an old family recipe and need to add it in to your food tracker for the day- input the recipe to the recipe calculator here on SP and it will give you the nutritional value per serving. i discovered this over the weekend and it's awesome!
Use Bee Pollen & Honey to sweeten up things- like plain oatmeal for breakfast, or vanilla ice cream for dessert. Both have a lot of health benefits- especially for allergy sufferers (but you have to be sure to use local pollen & honey) They are much better for you than brown sugar on your oatmeal or chocolate sauce on your ice cream and taste better IMO, with more health benefits.
I've raved about Netflix before- but I recently found out they have several exercise/workout/fitness videos- many are instant view...yoga, dance, pilates, cardio, strength, etc...Unlimited viewing for just $9 a month!
I submitted a secret the other day about getting rid of cable after subscribing to Netflix and being able to stream to my tv from my Wii. Several people mentioned wanting to watch their favorite shows- Hulu is awesome for that! and it's free!
Not only will you spend less time in front of the tv but you will save money. I only spend $9 a month on Netflix now and can stream straight to my tv what I want to watch (movies & tv show) and it's easier to spend less time just veggin & channel surfing in front of the tv.
If you're like me you'll look at that honeydew, cantaloupe, etc sitting in the fridge and then grab the pudding cup b/c it's easier. So my solution is the day I go to the farmer's market I bring it all home and clean, chop, freeze, etc all my fruit so it's all ready to go and when me or my son wants some peaches or something they are all already to just grab & eat.
Head down to your local farmer's market for great deals on fresh food- fruits, veggies, meats, spices, breads, eggs, etc...I got a TON of stuff yesterday and spent only about $35 (best deal of the day- a case of blueberries for $5!) I am now spending the day cleaning, cutting up and freezing extras- that way fresh fruit is ready to go as a health snack. I try to make it down to the farmer's market every 2 weeks or so- and it's a lot of fun for my son to pick out his own stuff :)
I have noticed that as long as I keep the things I crave visible they are easier to resist- but the second I clean out all the candy, coookies, etc out of my house, car, office, etc I crave it more and it's all I can think about...but if it's around I don't think about it- or eat it
