Pause to give thanks

Before I choose to take a bite, my goal is to pause and give thanks to God for my food. That usually gives my brain time to think about whether the food I am about to eat is in alignment with my weight loss goals. emoticon

Distance not time!

I'm training for my first 5k--my goal is reaching that distance every time I'm on the treadmill not completing it within a certain amount of time. I know that as my training progresses the time will start decreasing. BUT hitting that goal of completing a 5k each time I train reassures me that I CAN complete my first 5k in May! So next time focus on hitting your DISTANCE goal and NOT put your focus on the time!

Streaker Prize

Using the 100 day streak to get healthier and to put back 1.00 each day so when I reach day 100, I can reward myself with a new workout outfit or whatever I have decided on. Recently I needed a new bathing suit for my water aerobics.

Sharing

I'm a very independent person and hate "depending" on others, but sometimes it really does help. Reading the success stories, checking in with your groups, or even having a buddy during a challenge. Socialization is important and as much as I hate to say it, it's often essential in losing weight, that positive affirmation we get from knowing that other people know often leads us to exercise more or do an extra 5 minutes or push ourselves harder on the next workout.

planning a meal with the food tracker

when i group my food together i write down how many calories are in the grouping, to make it easier to plan my food allowance for the day, for example i might write: eggs and toast 356, or spaghetti and meatballs 700, or chicken dinner 500.

Easy calorie tracking using a 100 calorie *FAVORITE* favorite.

My *FAVORITE* favorite is named simply "100." Its a 100 calorie favorite I use when tracking food gets too complex or I don't have the time. For example, tonight we had spaghetti. I seriously don't have the time to track 1/4 cup fresh tomatos, 1/4 cup fresh onion, 1tbsp garlic....you get the idea. So I kept a fairly close running calorie total using the serving sizes on the packages. After cooking, eating and cleaning all I have to do is put in 6.5 servings of "100" to track the 650 calories.

Take the Stairs--Not Just for Climbing

Do a whole body mini workout on the stairs. Do one set (15-20 reps) of:

-Stair-push ups (like wall push-ups, but uses more of your body weight)
-Step-ups (take two stairs if you can)
-Single-leg calf raises
-Then sprint one flight up and back down.

Repeat as many times as you can in 10 minutes .

I have stairs at home, and can manage to fit in this mini work out three times a day.

Moving Comfort Fiona Sports Bra

When I first joined SP, I wore a 36F bra. As a result, I spent a lot of money on a lot of bras that weren't supportive. Not so with the Fiona... I can run, jump, and do everything else in this bra without the girls bouncing all over emoticon

water ugh!

well I don't like drinking water... so I found a way to make it a little better. I put a few frozen berries in my glass and they sink, and help keep it cool, and when u finish the water you get a treat at the end. :)
