Keep Your Tulips from Drooping

I love love love fresh tulip bouquets this time of year.. however they seem to get droopy soooo fast. To get a little more life out of them, simply drop a penny in water of the vase and they will last much longer.

Using the very handy refrigerator crisper drawer

I have been keeping baggies of clean lettuce, chopped carrots, celery, onions, hard boiled eggs, .... you name it... in my refrigerator crisper drawer. When it is dinner time I pull out my drawer, take it to the counter and "viola" .. making a salad is a snap!

Quick, Easy & Yummy way to get in your Fruit

After lunch and/or dinner I will heat for 1 minute in the microwave 1/2 to 1 cup of unsweetened applesauce in a ramekin. Sometimes I add a few frozen berries or raisins on top . After it is heated, I top with a Tablespoon of FF whipped topping and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Yummy way to eat your fruit!

Getting in my Half Gallon Daily

I have found that if I make up a pitcher of Crystal Light first thing in the morning I will stay off the diet soda. It is also a great way to measure my daily fluid intake because as long as I drink the entire pitcher that day I know I got in my 8 glasses. emoticon

Setting a Long Term Fitness Goal helps with daily motivation

Last year I decided that in 2011 I wanted to do a triathlon. I've never done anything like that but have a friend that has. I'm not getting any younger so I set that as my long term fitness goal. Making this decision has really helped keep me moving and training as I am working towards a goal.

Eating Healthy when you are on the Road

Eating healthy when traveling can really be a challenge. It is so easy to order off the menu and make a bad choice or tell yourself "what the heck.. I deserve a treat ". I have found that most restaurants will make omelettes with whites only and will substitute sliced tomatoes or fruit instead of hash browns or potatoes. Makes for a healthy filling meal on the road.

Learning to Embrace Exercise

For years, I did 20 min on the elliptical 4 days a week and HATED it.... then I started doing some strength training and Wowsa...my whole attitude shifted. I now enjoy all types of exercise and. routinely get in 45-90 minutes 6-7 days a week. If you hate exercise, give strength training (I used free weights) a try 3 times a week for a month and then see if you don't feel differently. It is so worth it and has changed my life and attitude.

Grilling Extra Hamburgers makes for quick easy meals

When grilling burgers, I always cook up 4 extras. I keep these precooked patties in the fridge and later reheat in the oven for a quick easy lunch or dinner with minimal mess and prep.

Spare No Expense! You are WORTH it!

If you have trouble getting in enough fruits and veggies, then by all means BUY the pre-cut trays and keep them in the fridge. You are worth it! In the past, you wouldn't have hesitated to buy chips, or other treats so think of the trays as your NEW you treat!

Have you noticed the price of Gold? Wowsa!

With Gold prices at an all time high I decided it was time to get rid of my old 14k earrings, chains, charms, sterling jewelry, etc that I no longer wear. I took it to a reputable dealer and WOWSA... got a check on the spot for in some cases MORE than I originally paid for the piece. I'm smiling!
