Take photos and create a small album of meals you love to eat.... then on a photo sized piece of paper write out (or type) the ingredients and instructions and add to the album. When you are stumped what to have for breakfast, lunch or dinner just take a look at your album for inspiration!
I LOVE Mac and Cheese but avoid it as it is a calorie disaster and not all that nutritious...however I recently made a lighter and healthier version that was pretty darn good. I used 1/2 the normal amount of pasta and instead substituted cauliflower. Delicious!
I have a small journal where I list all my medical appointments, procedures, prescriptions etc. I had a problem remembering things when asked by my doctor like when I had my last Mammogram, Now I just look it up! I also ask and keep track of my blood pressure readings, resting heart rate etc and am able to see progress over time.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the website Pinterest.com. Thanks for getting me hooked on it Spark People! It has great visual motivation, exercise ideas, and the recipes??? What can I say? Awesome. If you haven't checked it out yet... DO IT NOW!!
I love Mochas but I don't like the calories or the cost! I have found a great way to make my own at home. I use a 20 oz refillable travel mug, put in 1/2 packet of the 60 cal Low Cal Swiss Miss Hot Choc Mix, fill the cup with coffee leaving enough room to add 2 T Fat Free French Vanilla Creamer. Stir, put on your lid and sip through a few skinny straws. Yum!
Hands down my Ipod Nano is my favorite fitness buddy. No way could I run the distances I do without having my favorite uplifting tunes at the ready. If you want to energize your walks, runs, treadmill time.. whatever.. just add music! It will keep you going-strong!
I work in food service so I'm on my feet pretty much all day. When I'm not moving or waiting for food to come up, I try and do a few calf raises. Just stand in place and raise/lower yourself on your tip toes. Speed it up and within a minute or so you will be saying "oh my aching butt"!
I hate coming home from work and having to figure out what to cook... so to make things easier I take out several meals and thaw in the fridge. Having pork chops, chicken and hamburgers ready to go is a life saver. As I cook one up, I take another package out of the freezer. They stay fresh in the fridge for 3-4 days easily so I now always have something at hand ready to go to choose from.
