Wall pushups

This is for who are unable to do actual pushups. These are almost as good as the conventional ones. When it gets too easy, I do one-arm wall pushups. These are really intense and I always feel the burn.

sleep in your workout gear!

I try to get my exercise in the morning before all of my crazy kids wake up and the house is peaceful. I find that if I sleep in my workout clothes then I'm less likely to shrug it off and hit the snooze. Morning workouts help me feel energized for the day and motivates me to stay on track all day.

10,000 steps a day with a pedometer.

i have a pedometer and I try to get 10,000 steps or more a day. I put it on in the morning and wear it all day. If at first you can't do 10,000 a day start with what you can and work up to it. All that matters is that you get moving. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Don't worry, be happy!

Stress (mental &/or physical) does interfere with weight & health goals.

Think positive! Wake up each morning and find something to be grateful for.
Don't wait to see results! Another year will pass no matter how much attention is paid to the hours, inches, days. No need to obsess over calories, fat, and excercise... just inch a little closer to those goal(s) more often than not.

Recognize those small successes! Drown out the inner critic with your cheer squad once in awhile!

Squeezing in Extra Movements to the day

I do several things to keep on moving throughout the day - I always walk to a co-workers desk to talk to them, about every 30-60 minutes I make sure I get up and move by taking a walk around the office floor then going up the stairs to the next floor-walking to the other side-take the stairs down and back to my desk, at lunch I always fit in walking outside regardless of the weather for a minimum of 20 minutes, and I power walk to the train station which is about .87 miles from my office.

Working out decreases hunger

Many studies have proven that strength training decreases a hunger hormone (ghrelin), and cardio decreases ghrelin AND increases a hormone that makes people feel full (peptide YY).

Knowing this, whenever I get hungry after recently eating, I just go for a brisk walk outside for half an hour - it's calming, rejuvenating, and keeps me less hungry!
