My main exercise is walking but I am not a fast walker. I kept hearing about people who walk a 15 minute mile, but my time was more like 20 minutes per mile. So I installed the free app RunKeeper on my phone. It tells me how far I've gone and maps my route, and best of all it tells me my average speed! I have shaved my time down to less than a 17 minute mile - and I am getting closer to my goal of a 15 minute mile! Woo hoo!
I love my job but work can be pretty stressful so I try to find ways to alleviate the stress before I even get to the office. I do this by sitting up as straight as I can in my car - having good posture - and I practice deep breathing for about five minutes. It's pretty basic but I start out my morning feeling relaxed and calm.
I get up at 4:30 a.m. for work. Before I even leave the bed I do a few little stretches to help my back trouble. Then I take my shower and then eat a small breakfast to get me going. Then I login to SparkPeople to do my daily spin and log in my breakfast. I go back to my bedroom and do a few jumping jacks and some knee lifts, leg lifts and side kicks to boost my morning energy.
