Pre-log your workouts

At the start of each day, I log my planned workout for the day. It makes me feel like I can't back out then. When the day winds down and I'm thinking of excuses not to go, I remind myself that I already logged it!

Always be prepared!

Even if I don't have a workout scheduled, I bring a gym bag and my yoga mat with me to work or when traveling (for business or pleasure). This way, I can't use the old "I don't have my stuff" excuse. You never know when downtime will present itself, or when you'll need to release some energy after a stressful day.

Educate yourself before going out to dinner

Most chain restaurants have nutritional information on their website. However, I often eat at local establishments and before I do, I consult this website: http://www.helpguide.org/lif
e/fast_food_nutrition.ht
m

It
gives excellent suggestions on what to order when you're at different types of restaurants (Italian, Asian, Burger Joints, to name a few). This way even if I don't know the nutrional value, I can atleast know some dishes and words to look for.

Trader Joe's Kettle Corn

Snack on Trader Joe's Kettle Corn! It is really low in calories and the serving size is huge (2.25 cups!). I only use 1.5 cups when I eat it and its only 78 calories. Its a light snack that is both sweet and salty, so it can satisfy any craving without you feeling guilty. Plus, its delicious so it feels liek a treat!!

Mix up your routine without breaking the bank!

Visit daily deal sites and when you see something that even mildly interests you - buy it! This is how I discovered a passion for yoga, and also how I discovered that spin class is not my friend. Its a great way to try new things and mix up your routine - most offers are for 4 -6 classes, so even if you hate it its not a huge committment and still keeps you active. You can also buy things like massages and spa treatments to reward yourself!

Born This Way

At least once a day, I put on my headphones and blast "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga. Regardless of your musical preferences, it is such a powerful message. I sit and take it all in, and I feel confident and motivated. Bonus - It is also a great workout song!

I'm beautiful in my way
Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way

Don't hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way

Repeat a Mantra

"Nothing tastes as good as thin feels."

When you find yourself reaching for something you shouldn't be eating, or if you're going to a second portion that you don't need, repeat this to yourself.

Train your way thin

Sign up for a 5k, a 10k, or a marathon walk. I am doing the Susan G. Komen 3-day for the Cure, which is 60 miles (www.the3day.org/goto/ginas)
.
I am training to participate in a good cause - the weight loss is just an added benefit! It really takes the pressure off!

Strawberry Banana Icy Treat

Cut up bananas, throw into a food processor and run it for a minute. Add strawberries, throw them into the food processor with the mashed up bananas, and run it again for another minute or two. Toss it into the freezer and an hour or so later - replacement "ice cream!" MUCH healthier for you and in my opinion, just as delicious! It makes 4 1/2 cup servings and only has 67 calories per serving!!
