Use your experience

You know what you did when you started. You're one step ahead of the game. Begin again without self-recriminations. The past is past. Do what you did in the beginning. If you've lost some good habits, or resurrected some bad ones, use your experiences in setting things right. You got started before. You can do it again.

Two steps forward?

We've all heard the saying, "Two steps forward, one step back." But it really just emphasises the negative. It's like saying, "We can't have any progress without losing momentum." Why not turn it around and say "One step back, two steps forward." Now it's a positive encouragment. It now means, "I may take a step backward, but when I do I'm going to take two steps forward."

Motivate someone else

Motivate someone else. Have you read a blog or post by a person who is struggling? Give that person some encouragement. Tell them you believe in them and that they can achieve their dreams. Not only will they feel supported and encouraged, but so will you. When we help each other we become more motivated ourselves.

Give some encouragement

Give some encouragement. Have you read a blog or post by a person who is struggling? Give that person some encouragement. Tell them they can achieve their dreams. Not only will they feel supported and encouraged, but so will you. It's amazing how much better you can feel when you help someone else.

Map your exercise progress

Get a United States map (or whatever country you are in), choose a start and finish line, and map your progress. Use a highlighter or marker to "tick off" your progress from, for example, New York City to Los Angeles. Whether you are running, walking or biking, it's fun to see how far you've gone and how much remains until you reach your goal. Then when you do, throw a party!
