I tried some healthy recipes and they really don't taste good enough to give in my gift baskets. I decided to make half of each of my favorite recipes which will give me enough cookies for the baskets but not leave enough left to tempt me for days on end.
I find that if I go to bed just a tiny bit hungry the scale will drop in the morning. I don't mean, stomach growling starving, but just the feeling that I could eat a little more. I also sleep better if I am not over full.
I took a whipped topping bowl, heated up a phillips screwdriver and punched some holes in it to make a small colander. Then I line it with a coffee filter, put in a cup of plain yogurt, set it in a bowl, cover and let the whey drain out over night. Add sweetener and fruit and yum! Much cheaper.
I tuck a few plastic grocery bags in my pocket when I go for a walk. Along the way I pick up any litter I see along the road and drop it off at the trash cans at the local beach. I not only get lots of exercise, but I am enjoying nature a lot more. Bring a glove to protect your hands!
I have a large asparagus patch and my favorite way to cook it is to spray a few spears with olive oil, dust with garlic powder, wrap in a paper thin slice of deli ham and put it on the grill until the ham is crispy and browned.
The little plastic cups that pudding or applesauce come in are exactly 1/2 cup. I keep them in the oatmeal box and have a stack of them handy to measure cereal, milk, etc. to keep me honest about how much I am eating. When in doubt, measure!
I found the worst time of the day for me was mid-afternoon. I needed something to eat that was healthy and filling but would make me want to eat "more." I settled on air popped popcorn with a butter flavored spray or carrots and hummus.
