Although I use the sparkpeople menu for weight loss, I like to spread the meals out. Instead of three meals, I have four to six mini meals made from the menu suggested for the day. I don't get the late-night munchies that way and a big plus...I don't get overly hungry during the day while waiting for the next meal.
Ignorance is not bliss. If you eat an entire pizza, put it in there and see what the numbers really are. It makes you think twice the next time. If you want to indulge, put it in the tracker first and see what the end result is. You may get to eat that candy bar and still stay within the limits!
I have started to shop at Aldi. Fruits and Vegies are soooo much cheaper than the regular grocery store. We love their brand yogurt, cheese, some cerial and their fresh meat is reall good. They have a fit & active brand of low calorie / healthy goods.
One thing I do to save money is to get a part time job at a gym in town. I was on swim teams as a kid and can teach swim lessons once a week and get paid for it! As well as get a free membership to the place I work! Most gyms offer discounted or free classes for employees and some even have health programs for them as well! It's a great way for me to save money and earn some as well! Plus it makes sure I'm going to the gym!!
The other day I was in the library (I go there a lot for books, movies, and free WiFi), and I realized--Hey, they have workout DVDs I can check out for free here! So, I checked out "Bollywood Burn" and went home and tried it. It was fun and free! I know I'm not the only one who craves variety, and utilizing your local library is a great way to keep your workout fresh and exciting for free! I can't wait to try more!
Planning is a great part of the weight loss and healthy eating journey. For breakfast, I normally have steel oats or Quaker oats for breakfast. I cook a large batch on Sunday and place a service in containers to last 3-5 days. I cook the oats in almond milk, with an apple, raisins, walnuts, and flax meal. Cooking with milk adds flavor/nutrients. It heats nicely in the microwave if topped with a tsp of milk. This is an easy "grab and go" meal. No more excuses for missing breakfast.
To much of my life was filled with anger and frustration because I said yes and did things I didn't really want to do. Thinking I would be a bad person if I said "No!" And this lead to anger and frustration and eventually emotional eating.
Put in the goals to donate or throw away an item each and every day. The spark points will motivate you and every day you track your other goals you will be remembered to get an item out of your house, apartment or room.
