Eat when bored? Try this!

I eat more when I am watching TV or relaxing and it's easy to consume more than I should. Instead of grabbing chips, grab a sucker! Suckers can last about an hour and only contain about 60calories! Its a great way to eat without eating 400 calories worth of chips!

speed foods

iv been at my target weight for 1 year and 4 months. iv maintained by eating lots of food that speed up your metabolism such as strawberries and other berries, and lots of salads!! this allows me to eat anything without restriction for one or two days per week!! obviously at the weekend!! i love being slim but i love the freedom of eating anything i want at the weekend!! x

Staying With SparkPeople!

I've been very cautious about making big changes once I reached my goal weight. Staying with SparkPeople is at the top of my list. I'm still drinking lots of water, eating 5-6 freggies a day, and exercising 250-300 minutes a week, as well as tracking food and staying in calorie range. No foods are off limits, but healthy eating and regular exercise got me here; I'm not regaining that 57 lbs!

5 rules

1. Weekly Friday weigh in. 5lbs up means I go into cut back mode
2. Exercise moderately
3. Monday to Friday: I watch what I eat pretty carefully, and allow myself one samll treat per day. Weekends I relax and eat what I want (within reason!), have a few glasses of wine
4. A key piece of clothing - a pair of well fitting jeans - if they start feeling tighter, action is required!
5. Drinks: I only drink water, green tea and a coffee in the mornings. Well, not counting the wine that is!

Squats and lunges

when my dog stops to sniff something I do squats. Sometimes I get up to 15, but mostly just 4. BUT, I live in the country and no one is usually around to see this.. it works well for me.

Run Instead of Walk

Even though I'm huge, I won't let that get in my way. Walking was wasting my time. I wait til it's dark, put on running sneakers and head outside to jog. No, I can't go all that fast or far (yet), but it doesn't matter. I go until I am totally out of breath, face beat red and sweating! The metabolism boost was pretty much instantaneous. Try it! You'll see what I mean & it's also an instand mood-lifter! emoticon

Recipe Program on Computer

I spent the money for a recipe program for my computer and save recipes I find in magazines, books, online, etc.. We can only recall and save so many recipes from the many places we see them. This way, recipes I find which are healthy and look good are at my fingertips. This program actually allows me to copy a recipe and "captures" it to avoid a lengthy process of transcribing it over.

Green Giant is making me smaller :)!

I am completely in love with Green Giant's Valley Fresh Steamers. The broccoli in cheese sauce and broccoli, carrots and cauliflower in cheese sauce are both about 150 calories for the whole bag and incredibly filling. They're also ready to eat in 5 minutes. They've been a big part of my getting enough veggies and losing weight. The best part is that they're covered in cheesy goodness so they feel like anything but diet food.

Compete with a partner for "prizes" and get motivated for early morning gym

In order to motivate ourselves to hit the gym every morning before work myself and my girlfriend have set up a reward and punishment system.

We track this by using a spreadsheet but you could easily use paper & pen.
