Exercise Early and Often

Days that I get up and out of bed to exercise work. Days that I don't get up, don't result in exercise. I intend to but email creeps in, then work, then kids and then it's late and I can't or I won't sleep.

Water Water Everywhere Not a Drop to Drink

I have not been a water drinker and I weight 280 which means I'm supposed to drink 140 oz a day. I bought three 32 oz sports drink holders and fill them up first thing in the morning. By noon they are now empty and I fill them up again for the afternoon. By end of day, I drink 150+ oz

Take picture of your scale weight each week and put picture on Facebook

Each Monday, I'm taking a picture of my scale's digital reading and posting on my Facebook page. It's a great incentive to watch my weekend eating, get exercising, drink water etc Also, as my posts have gone up, more people have made comments and notice, giving lots of support

Purchase a good scale that measures the same every time

I had a Tanita health scale with body fat %, water % etc The problem is it was never even close to my weight and never gave the same weight twice in a row. I bought a new flat scale with big digital numbers. The scale always gives same weight and it's easy to see.

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

This is not for the faint of heart. After years of saying I was going to lose weight, I made the ultimate commitment. I gathered extended family members (16) and asked them to shave off my hair. I'm not growing it back until I lose 40 lbs.

Portion Control is Your Friend

I worked in restaurant industry for years. I have no idea what real portions are anymore because what we buy is often several 100% more than what a serving is. My lack of reality about portions leads me to eat much more than is typical and leads me to feel starved when I'm eating right.

I'm not exercising, I'm watching videos

I don't like to exercise and treadmill workouts are the very worst. Recently, I decided I wanted to watch the top 100 movies ever made according to American Film Institute. I got a netflix membership and several movies were sent to me. Now, my time on the treadmill is an investment in my future
