Most biscuit cutters make overly wide biscuits, anyway―more beret than top hat. Use a tomato-paste can to achieve the proper size. First, scoop out the paste and freeze it in Tupperware or a storage bag. Then remove both the top and the bottom with a can opener and wash the interior. To prevent sticking, dip the can in flour before each cut.

Eating a piece of dark chocolate everyday has actually helped me lose weight! When I know that I have this little treat everyday, I don't feel deprived of sweets and it definitely prevents indulgence. Plus, it really makes me happy!

"Today is the day that the Lord has made, come let us rejoice and be glad in it". Isn't it wonderful to know that no matter where we are in our lives, we can ALWAYS depend on the One who made us to give us strength and guidance.

When my husband was first diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, I would ask him his "numbers" every time he tested himself. I quickly realized that this was stressing him out in a situation that was already very stressful because my reaction often reinforced his anxiety. Now, I never ask. I let him tell me, and he does. As a result, we are both more relaxed about his health. (His A1C was 6.1 last time it was checked. He's doing great!)

Keep a clear glass jar somewhere you see it all the time and put in it a penny for every 1lb of weight you lose. Seeing number of pennies in the jar growing is excellent motivation, just be sure to take them out if you gain - not wanting to remove any pennies is a great way to keep yourself on track!

Marching to a different drummer
While many people like to exercise to peppy dance music, or popular tunes, or oldies, I love to walk to Sousa Marches. They have a great walking beat, and are always enthusiastic. You just keep walking, like the energizer bunny, keeping the beat!

Having trouble drinking all that water? A lot of people find that using a straw, or a water bottle with a straw opening helps them drink more water. Try it!

For most people when they feel hungry, its their body actually telling them that it needs water. So if I feel the hunger coming on, I drink a glass of water 1st and wait about 10 minutes. Only if the hunger continues do I then eat.

Don't try to change everything at once. Start with one or two small changes, and do them consistently. It works!

After grilling or baking meat in the oven put the meat on a plate and cover in foil. This allows the meat to rest so you do not lose the juices. Allow to rest 3 or 4 minutes.
