No matter what life hands you, find the best in it. If we only think of negative we will not have a nice life. Make sure you smile, laugh and cry because that is what it is about. Try a Sample at your grocer's bakery counter

I'm trying to eat extremely healthily so I can lose weight. But I've found that during my weekly shopping trips to get my groceries, the bakery counter always has a dome filled with little sample cups of a featured product. So, I allow myself to sample the 2 bites of cake/pie/cookie and then move along. It gives me a once-per-week 'treat' that I wouldn't normally eat, and it doesn't wreck my otherwise-healthy diet.

Gardeners Killing the Colorado Potato Beetle Organically

This works for Japanese beetles too. Go out a couple of days with a container of soapy water. Flick all the seen beetles into the water. This is the key kill the ones there directly by HAND. Then spray the plant with a solution of fresh crushed garlic and water which has sat overnight, repeat if you need to. It is working in my garden!
Try an organic bug killer too if you like.

Cereal Lovers Cheat

I love cereal, and I love big fat bowls of it (which can be multiple servings). To trick myself, I fill up a bowl with fruit-- bananas, berries, kiwis, pineapple, whatever I have-- and then pour a measured serving or half-serving over the fruit. Looks like a HUGE full bowl, but isn't! Top off with unsweetened almond milk at 35 calories to be EXTRA GOOD :) (or skip milk and use low-fat yogurt instead). Yum!

True coupon savings...

When I started using coupons, I was discouraged that I couldn't use a coupon for every item bought. Then I realized that some items were actually less w/o a coupon which led me to a secret of true savings.
I still shop sales and try to attach coupons when I can but instead of counting money saved, I divide total items purchased, found at the bottom of the receipt, into total $ spent. This gives me $/item. I am giddy when I spend only $1.50 for laundry soap, meat, beauty care, etc!

My motivation

paying attention to my goals, knowing that the scale just gives a number and does not define ME, watching my calories, working out every day! Thinking about why I am doing this! Just know that you are better than the set backs, that you can jump over the obstacles and that this is a slow and steady race! We have our entire lives to turn ourselves around and be the better, healthier, thinner versions of our old selves! This is it. You can do this!

Go Clean Your Room!!

"Go clean your room" doesn't always get the best results. Give your kids a list of exactly what you expect and let them check off the tasks as they are done. MUCH less nagging!!!

Red, White & Blue

Remember to eat your vegetables and fruits of red, white and blue. I know it is the 4th July, but drink lots of water instead of soda and alcohol. You will be happy later that you did. Have lots of fun in the sun playing games with your family and friends.
