Being a good friend: the 5 minute rule When deciding whether or not to say something to a friend about her appearance or behavior, keep this rule in mind. If it is something she can fix in 5 minutes (something in her teeth, talking too loud, etc.) go ahead. If not, it is best to keep it to yourself.

Don't get nervous at restaurants
You have learned new coping strategies, and found many foods you LIKE that are good for you. Instead of thinking, "I lose control at restaurants and give in to temptation," you should think, "I have many reliable tools to make sure I make healthy decisions, no matter where I am."

Anyone can make a container garden
I go to school and work full time, live in the city with only a tiny deck (no time, no space). I put up a 3' deck railing planter and planted beets and soybeans! Since it hangs on the railing, it takes up no floor space, and it is motivating me to care more about local food!

Organize your closet by garment and color, dark to light. First dresses, then skirts, then pants, then long-sleeved shirts, then short-sleeved shirts, then sleeveless. It makes coordinating outfits in the morning quick and easy, and you always know where to look for a specific piece.

When your soap bar has worn down to a little sliver, press it to the next bar of soap and "glue" them together with a bit of water. Once it dries, the soaps will be fused into one bar, and you don't waste anything! Works even with two different kinds of soap bar.

To help insomniacs fall asleep
Lay on your back with all your muscles relaxed. Starting with your toes (then balls of the feet, then heels, then ankles, etc), focus on relaxing your muscles even further. If you tense up, start over. This meditation will drive away excessive thoughts and help you fall asleep.

Use conditioner to shave, especially good for legs and bikini area. It leaves your skin feeling smooth and soft, and really reduces irritation. Save money by not having to buy special shaving cream!

I have been using the Diva Cup for almost a decade, and the thought of going back to tampons and pads is horrifying. The Diva Cup has saved me hundreds of dollars, reduced the severity of my cramps, and nearly eliminated leaks. I can use it without worrying during the most vigorous exercising.
