I try to practice random acts of kindness at least once a day. It can be something as small as holding a door open for someone, letting someone get in line in front of you at the market if they have fewer items and you have a full cart, whatever little things you see. It makes people so happy to be treated to an unexpected kindness and reminds me to be more positive throughout my day.
I, as a lot of others here, have a tendency to think and do mainly of and for others and not for or of myself. I have invested a great deal of time, energy, sweat and planning to get to where I am now. I just discovered that it helps IMMENSELY to give myself rewards.
I pack my gym bag, lunch and lay out my clothes every night. This way I am ready to go with little fuss in the morning and don't forget something essential in the rush to get out the door. The one day I didn't pack the night before (got home really late and had to do laundry before I could pack my bag) I did end up leaving behind several things I really needed for the day.
I just found that if I start to get bored it is time to get up and move. No more channel surfing when there seems to be nothing on. Instead I walk, ride a bike or go out and work in the yard or garden. I've been doing it since before joining this site and it has really helped!
My motivation are my granddaughters, Athena who is going to be 4 in October, and Briianna who will be 2 in December. I was already in decent shape due to my line of work, but the extra weight I still carry means more health risks and a greater chance that I won't be here for them and their kids.
