Need a chocolate fix?!

If you're craving the taste of chocolate, here's a way to get a bite for about 12 calories. Try one Pocky stick. They are little breadsticks coated in chocolate but they come in at around 12 calories. You can find them at Asian markets or with the Asian foods in some groceries. They are YUMMY and and great for those chocolate cravings!

Mashed potatoes make-over

I made some mashed potatoes last night with a bit of Greek yogurt and water instead of milk and margarine and they were really tasty. The yogurt made it really tangy and tasted as though I had made the potatoes with sour cream. Yum!

Wii gaming system

While it may not be the most intense workout, the Wii provides a lot of fun, active games for anyone starting out in an exercise program. They are so much fun you don't realize you're starting to sweat!

v8 "soup"

I love using a cup of low sodium V8 as a quick, low calorie "soup". I just add some spices to pump up the flavor and then nuke it for about a minute. I have even stirred in a tbsp of Greek yogurt at the end of the cooking time to make it more creamy. Super easy, super healthy and super cheap :)

Cooking your own dinner burns calories too!

According to walking guru Leslie Sansonne, there's another great benefit to cooking at home instead of eating out. You typically burn about 100 calories between the act of cooking and cleaning up for each meal! More incentive to eat at home!

Mixing Yogurts

I know the Greek style yogurts are better for me, but I still like the flavor of Yoplait light better. I have taken to mixing one part Yoplait light to one part Greek no-fat yogurt for the perfect blend of sweetness and health!

Use kids plates and bowls!

I use my toddlers plates and bowls from IKEA to eat from. They are really small and in great, fun colors! It looks like I have a HUGE snack or meal in front of me when I plate it on my child's dinner ware.

Try it for 10 minutes

If you're having a slump and don't feel like exercising, set your timer for 10 minutes and more than likely, you'll feel so energized at that point that you'll keep on going! That's my favorite tip from the My Fitness Coach software for the Wii!
