Don't Buy It

If forbidden foods are not in the house I don't think about them so I'm careful not to buy any "bad" foods.

Walking Fast to Save Money AND Burn Calories

If you make a list before going shopping and walk briskly to each thing and then straight to the counter to check out you will not only burn more calories than you would by shopping slowly, but you'll also spend less by not picking up extra things! emoticon

When baking, substitute applesauce for oil. Baked goods come out fluffier and lowers the calorie content.

The Team Huddle

Huddle with all of your teams every day. It will serve the same purpose as a Huddle in Football. By the time you have gone to each team you will have read/ and heard in you head Go Team! Woo Hoo! You can do it! Make it Happen! Even (especially) on days where I feel like a lump the Huddle gets me up and exercising.

Soda

Just don't drink it! Diet or Regular it is just nasty and a bad habit. I challenge soda drinkers to write down the ingredients and then research what they are and what they do to your body. One key point I want to make is Diet is not better for you than regular. Diet soda is just as likely to cause health issues, like diabetes, as regular soda. Educate yourself!

Take a photo of the treadmill

Take a quick photo of the treadmill, elliptical or other machine, so you can easily refer to it later for info to plug into your tracker or on your team message boards or challenges (calories burned, distance, average speed, time, resistance/incline, steps per minute, etc.)

Logging food

Since I bring breakfast, lunch and snacks to work each day, I enter everything I've brought when I log into Sparkpeople first thing in the morning. I also enter what I've planned for dinner. That gives me a good view of my day and sometimes encourages me to change the menu (swap string beans for corn at dinner or skip the potato), reminds me whether I've gotten my fruits and veggies, and shows if I have room for an extra snack.
