Boosting your Laundry Detergent

Boost your current laundry detergent by adding some vinegar and baking soda.

I don't use laundry soap that has dies and perfumes in it. I use Armand Hammer - unscented. I use less than what they specify in the instructions and I boost it with vinegar and baking soda. You don't need a lot - about 1/2 cup of vinegar to 1/4 cup on baking soda. This seems to keep the whites white and clean the protein out of towels and underwear as well.

Baking Soda

Did you know that you can use Baking Soda as a scouring medium. I use it in general in my kitchen for scouring tea stanes out of cups, helping with scouring my stainless steel pots & pans. Works wonders and doesn't scratch like steel wool or SOS pads sometimes do.

Use Cash

Instead of using Credit Card or Debit Card - make sure you have the cash to pay for your purchase.

You will make better choices if you pay cash for your purchases. Ask yourself - Do I need this? or Do I want this?

Applesauce!

Did you know that you can substitute applesauce for the fat portion of your ingredients in baking. If you are baking cookies for example; you can substitute the same amount of applesauce for the amount of butter/margarine/or oil it calls for. The result is a fluffier cookie. Tastes great with a lot less calories.

Size is everything!

When I began watching my weight and trying to keep my portion control in check I changed from a large dinner plate to a medium sized plate to eat of. It makes it look like I have a lot of food on my plate but it's just the medium plate full instead of the large one. This makes it easy to watch my portion sizes.
