Just a taste to soothe the beast within...

Look, I don't like getting sidetracked like anyone else when following an eating plan...but it happens. I do this to ease the cravings I get without straying away from the path.

It seems to derail me from hitting the vending machine for potato chips and candy bars. Taste without the guilt.

Freshen your car for pennies on the dollar!

Hello again, your daily driver here....if your car isn't smelling that great or has a bit of a stale aroma, freshen it for cheap!

I like to put a dryer sheet under the front seats: driver and passenger. It'll last about 2 weeks, then just take out and place replace! Mmm....fresh smelling!

Cleaning interior car crevices

I'm a commuter - about 90 miles round trip mon-friday, so I like to keep my car clean on the inside. A key to getting those dirt/dust flecks in those odd corners on your dashboard is to use an old makeup brush that you cleaned to dust with. That's it!

Pinching pennies and feeding mouths...

I won't put the link here, but in these tough times it only made sense to reference and find out what families did during the great depression. on youtube watch a few episodes of Great Depression cooking w/Clara. I thought it was useful. Remember folks, everything in moderation

Wilted greens? Perk them up!

A trick to perking up carrots and other veggies that have wilted/got a bit soft is to place the carrots in a bowl of cold water in the fridge overnight. For spinach/asparagus, place in a tall upright container with fresh cold water in the fridge. You'll see a noticeable result :) Happy cooking!

Help with getting kids to school on time...

A real quick and simple tip: Sometime on the weekend pick out 5 outfits for your child(ren) for the week. That way it's a no brainer when trying to rush out the door on school days. We have a shelf system from IKEA that we use to hold each separate day for outfits. Just that little bit helps.

Go Go Gadget, Go!!!

Just like a car, before you start your day....stretch. Something that simple can make you feel great and motivated. Not to mention, it's a nice morning greeting to your body to take on the day.

Eat before you shop...anywhere

I'm a frugalist extraordinaire...before we go shopping anywhere, especially the grocery store we have a meal. You'll be surprised at how much $$ you'll save shopping on a satisifed appetite. At that point, a small calorie burn from walking doesn't hurt either.

To Go in the first half...

i might've missed the posting for this one, but here goes anyways. When we go out to eat, I generally as for a To - go container so that I can immediately save the other 1/2 of my meal for later instead of all at once.

Dr. Seuss' Meatloaf

Another fun way to have kids eat their greens. I puree about 4 cups of raw spinach into ground beef before making sheperds pie. The meat will take on a bright green color. Our son often orders off of the Dr Seuss menu
