Private Pity Party

Did you over-eat today? Did you feel too lazy to exercise? Forgot to meditate? Then here's a thought: Set a timer for exactly five minutes. Go to a private space. Rant, rave, pound a pillow fuming at your "misdeeds." When the timer goes off STOP. No more negative thoughts for the rest of the day. Stay focused and positive. Be nice to yourself. Follow your dreams and goals, for tomorrow you'll again have your five minutes, if you need them, to tell off that pillow.

Be Your Own Cheerleader

Compliments from others feel great, no doubt, but to truly appreciate the grand scale of reaching your goals, small and large, learn to be your own cheerleader. Cheer for yourself every time you improve your diet. Cheer for yourself when your clothes feel looser. Cheer for yourself when you're feeling a bit blue, and embrace others who may need a cheer, too. We are strong! We are determined! We will meet our goals.

Portion control suggestion

Having trouble with overeating at meals? After every meal I keep a stick of sugarless gum next to my plate. Instead of reaching for more food, I pop in the gum. You can chew, as you've been doing with your meal, but you won't be adding calories. You'll also have time, while you're chewing, for your brain to get the "I'm full" message.
