Saving your bacon
When I fry bacon, I fry the whole pound, drain between paper towels. Any that is not eaten at that meal, is put between fresh paper towels, inserted in a plastic bag and frozen. Handy to grab a slice or two and microwave and cuts down on the fat!
In the winter, bag ice cubes from your ice maker in plastic grocery bags and freeze. Saves in two ways-your freezer is more efficient when full and is great to take camping or on picnics when summer comes.
I received a Kyocera ceramic knife as a Christmas gift. Although I would not have bought myself one, it is an amazing tool. Makes all the veggie and fruit chopping so much easier!
Left over vegetable salad
When I make a vegetable salad with several cans of veggies and fresh onion, celery, bell pepper, I freeze the leftovers. Then I can add tomato sauce, low fat chicken broth and have a hearty soup. You can also add turkey or chicken.
How to start your car!
Fasten your seat belt, adjust your mirror, set your GPS, adjust the heater or air conditioning, put on your sun glasses, survey your surroundings, THEN turn on the key. It will save gas!
Drying your sweaters and knits
Dry them in the dryer on low heat for 10 minutes, then hang on hangers to finish drying. They turn out beautifully and no need for the dreaded "dry flat".
When I buy fresh spinach, there is more in the bag than I can use. I cook and freeze the rest for use later.
