Mini Goals and Monthly Weighins

I often become discouraged, and as such I do not allow my goals to set me up to fail. I have a small weight loss goal for the month, usually the absolute smallest amount I could lose under my current regimen. Then I leave the scale alone! At the end of the month I get to see my progress, and I have not been let down yet.

Pick a Friend who Motivates you

I have found two friends who really push me to be in better health. One, my neighbor helps me with food, we exchange recipes, have grill outs, or we SPLIT a bowl of ice cream after taking a walk around the neighborhood. The other friend is a runner. I like to hit the trail with her, even though she is much more advanced, we stretch together, begin and end together, and knowing she's there makes me want to work harder.

Try Something you Think you Don't Like

I avoided running at ALL costs (even when I was 110 pounds and 14 years old.) I hated the out of breath feeling, but I started a 5 training program to increase my endurance, and guess what.... I actually like running. I'm not out in freezing temps or the rain I'm not THAT into it, but I like my treadmill or a short trail walk/run. I never thought I would, but once I learned HOW, and accepted it was a process I have loved it.

Set a SPECIFIC fitness goal you track daily

I have read many times to make goals, and I thought "I'll be ok without it." I began the 5K Your Way, with the intention of having a 16 minute mile by the end, and I have stuck with my program! Having a very specific goal as opposed to simply cardio 3 days a week has been very helpful!

Designated Driver

I'm in my twenties and have friends who like to have a drink at the bar...I really like beer, and if someone else is driving will drink about 4 in a night. Instead I offer to DD, so I have one MAYBE two (depending on how long we are out) light beer(s). It saves me calories, I still get to have fun with my friends AND everyone gets home safely.

Active Cleaning

I use a customizsed list similar to Flylady's for cleaning. My one requirement: MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE!!!! I make sure I do not sit down and I don't stop moving until I done. It was 75 degrees in my house and I was sweating with a fan blowing on me. Helps me keep active AND have a clean house.
