Set a goal

Setting a specific goal for myself helped me to start & continue to lose weight. and motivate me for over a year.

I had lived out of the country for a while. When I left I was VERY skinny.

Over the intervening 40 yrs. I had gained 110 lbs. I wanted to go back for a visit, so I set a goal of losing at least 80 of that. I am traveling next month. As of yesterday, I had lost 85 lbs, and probably can lose a few more before I leave. (click title to continue)

Re-Start Your Program

Running as much as I wanted to was getting to be a burden for me, to the point that I only did it once a week. I decided to start from scratch and gradually work back into it to go easier on myself. I started back with the C25K program, and it has been a lot easier to get going 3x/week!

Reject the "All or Nothing" mentality!!

It is so easy to live with an "All or Nothing" mentality... BUT, it will discourage and defeat you!! Take one day at a time... if you mess up, don't fall apart... Jump back in and KEEP GOING!! We CAN do it!! WoooHooo....

Vegetables

Serve them and hide them in things to have more. Fill 1/2 your plate with veggies! Steam, stirfry, fresh, or soup. Makes a big difference and fills you so dessert can be small. Spices too, if you like them.

True Lime

Love this stuff - Crystallized lime juice in a packet, nothing else! No additives, fake sugar or anything else. It's so easy to keep in my desk drawer at work, and makes all that water I'm drinking taste great, while giving me a Vitamin C boost. There is also True Lemon... Yum!

Boosting up frozen meals

I roast veggies every few days (zucchini,squash, asparagus, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, etc) and store them in the fridge. Then I add at least a 1/2 cup to frozen pasta meals (ex: WW Ravioli Florentine). It makes them taste tons fresher and adds a serving of veggies!

Refill Right Away!

Never let the water glass sit empty. I find that If I have my water or unsweetened green tea glass sitting around me I naturally keep drinking. As soon as it's empty, even if you don't feel thirsty that moment, refill it. You'll get those 8 glasses in before you know it! emoticon
