Give yourself credit

So, the last thing I wanted to do after work today was run to the gym. I spend most of my day being active caring for my patients at the hospital I googled how many calories I burn in spending roughly 2 hours per day actively involved with assisting patients: 272 calories per hour! This cannot be a daily excuse to hit the gym because moving patient's certainly does NOT elevate my heart rate like a trip to the gym, but it's nice to know I don't have to beat myself up if I don't make it either!

Pay Attention

Typically a plateau for me happens when life gets so busy I quit paying attention, neglect counting calories and don't exercise intentionally. During this time, I often don't eat ENOUGH for my body to burn additional calories and so it holds tight to the calories I already have. This is when I do what I can to survive the stress and then hop back on the wagon, counting my calories and working out intentionally. As I begin to pay attention and shake it up a bit, the pounds start shedding off.
