My eye doctor told me this for sinus headaches near your eye area. Take a washrag and get it hot (not scalding!). Wring it out and put it over your eyes. When cool, take a corner and wipe the top and bottom of your eyelids. Also works good when you are in the shower so you can also breathe in the steam.
If you have a family that loves thier meat and potatoes (like mine), request one green thing for a side. Can be salad, green beans, spinach, just something green. That way you have a healthy option on the side. Once that becomes routine, try other vegetables of the rainbow.
There is no such thing as a good or bad food. Food is fuel. Depending on what you put in your body will help you lose or gain weight. Some food will give more energy than others. Find out a good combination so you don't deprive yourself and gorge later.
What are YOUR reasons for losing weight? Your kid, you'll feel better, what? Don't let this be because someone called you fat or someone else thinks differently about you. You are a special person, and your reasons for losing weight should be your own, not someone else's idea.

Talk with your boss about changing your work environment to help you reach your fitness goals. It can be small things, but make big differences. On the phone a lot? A headset. At your desk? An exercise ball. Show how your productivity will be better and most work places are happy to accommodate.
I can't always control the cooking in my house. So when it's a one dish meal someone else made, I use a 1 cup measuring cup. I usually add a salad or vegetable for a side. For a to go option, use the snack size gladware (they hold about 9.5 oz) for a lunch portion. Easier to put in a lunch box too.
When someone asks you to supersize, ask for the Junior version instead. Then take your time enjoying it. You can still enjoy your food, just a smaller version. See if the restaurant has a low cal option or sub a salad instead of a side. (easy on the dressing!)
Don't purchase clothes that you might fit into someday. Buy the clothes that fit you now. When I buy a nice top that fits and suits my body, I feel better about myself. I mean think about it. If I look this good now, can you imagine how I'll look with less weight?
