Keep a Sharpie in your kitchen and label all your food with that day's date whenever you open a new package or when you're packing up leftovers. That way, you never have to question if something is still good (like that cottage cheese/yogurt container that got pushed to the back of the fridge or that yummy batch of chicken breast you pre-cooked for your workweek!). Saves you money and saves you from any potential tummy aches :)
I purchased a $10, refillable, oil mister and it is awesome! I keep it filled with good for you olive oil and use it to spray veggies before roasting and to lightly dress salad (get a second one and fill it with vinegar!). I know what's in it (no chemicals!) and I save money since it's reusable!
Having a good breakfast every morning sets me up for eating well the rest of the day...Every Sunday evening, I make a batch of oatmeal or plain yogurt with fresh fruit parfaits and pack it up in single serving reusable containers. I also make a dozen hard boiled eggs for my husband and I for easy access to healthy protein for snacks or to round out my breakfast.
Drink water with a straw! I have a few insulated cold drink tumblers with screwtop lids and straws that I rotate throughout the week and I find I drink far more water this way. The water is right there, ready to drink. No more trying to unscrew a water bottle while driving/working out. I keep it at my desk at work and whenever I get up for a break, I down the remaining water and fill it back up on my way back to my desk.
Whenever I get up from my desk at work for a bathroom break or to fill my water bottle up, I take a round trip up and down the stairwell from our 3rd floor office. The time it takes is very minimal, but it's energizing and adds steps to my pedometer.
