Know your limits and when you've reached them, bow out gracefully. You don't have to do it all. In this month of celebration and festivities, we tend to lose track of all that we are in the midst of all that is going on. It really is OK to take care of YOU first.
Ring in December ... the beginning of the busiest time of the year! Remember to take a bit of time for yourself each day. Five to ten minutes will feel like a luxury, but oh such a deserved one. You're working hard. Pamper yourself for a few minutes and rejuvenate. You'll feel all the better for it ... and staying on track will be all the easier!

It's time to rid your fridge of those holiday yummies if you haven't already. Send them to friends who aren't watching their scales. Keep only the things you can make healthy dishes from. What did you learn at Thanksgiving that you want to take with you into Christmas or Hanukkah ?
What to eat, what to eat!? All those yummy foods on the Thanksgiving buffet and you have to decide. Already you have on an outfit with a waist so you can feel it getting tighter. Slow down so your brain gets the signal ... takes 20 minutes to feel satisfied. Then, take a tablespoon or less of the things you want. Taste each of them before you gobble one all down. Slow down. Enjoy people as much as food. YOU CAN DO THIS! Remember it's a holi-DAY, no more! Be sure to post your success!
That piece of pie ... how big should it be? Here's an easy trick to show you exactly how big. Take a paper plate .... just a cheap one that will fold easily. Fold it in half. Fold it in half again. Fold it in half again. That's a total of 3 folds. That's the size your piece of pie should be. One eighth of the pie. That's your portion. Now, you have a visual of what you should reach for!
Before you fill your plate, survey the table, know the offerings, decide what it is that your taste buds REALLY do want. You don't have to have it all. But you can have a taste of what you want and that won't ruin your day. After you've eaten, track it. Be loyal to yourself. You deserve the best care on this day we're most Thankful.
The big turkey day is quickly approaching, but it's not to late to plan something that takes everyone away from the table and puts an end to the meal. Perhaps it's a showing of the family movies, the kids dressing up and giving a Pilgrim & Indian play, or a game of some sort. Something fun to signal an end to eating and moving on to a fun activity that we look forward to. The sky is the limit of fun ideas!
Make an appointment with yourself today that you will meet YOU for some exercise time on Thanksgiving day. You might want to plan that time BEFORE the big meal so you won't want to cancel on yourself. Canceling just isn't an option! Burn some calories before the meal and you won't feel so guilty about the food you do eat. Get ahead of the game! You can do this!!
