Are there days in the week when you can make plans to stay put all day long? Park that car and don't move it for the entire day. Clean house, do yard work, walk to the store, play board games. If you think of your vehicle as a huge money drain, which it is, you can plan your week and your chore routes to drive less. Once in awhile, don't move your car at all for 24 hours.
I use online banking to make sure all of my bills are paid on time. To avoid missed or late payments, I set up a monthly payment for each one that will cover at least the minimum amount. Once or twice a month, I review and adjust the payments as needed to match the actual amount due for each bill. However, if something happens that forces me to forget to adjust the payment, the standard amount will be sent on time, thus keeping me from being charged a late fee.
While cleaning out the closets, or looking for clothes for your new size, consider Buffalo Exchange. You can trade in your old, clean clothes for a store credit or cash. One friend who recently lost 80 pounds kept recycling three pairs of jeans. As she lost a size, she took back three pairs and picked up three pairs in her new size.
I have a great trick to save money while getting your clothes clean: You use 1/2 of what the detergent says to use. I know a lot of people do this but it really does work and it gets your clothes just as clean!
Mr. A spends his cash and puts his left over extra change in his jar. He feels good. Mr. B gets a no annual fee credit card, a free $25 sign up bonus, watches his expenses, pays off entire balance at the end of each month, then gets FREE reward dollars direct deposited in his savings account monthly and therefore gets another small interest bonus! He feels great as his "jar" grows much faster!
If you want to buy better quality clothes because they last longer and look better, or you find certain brands are the only ones that fit you well, try looking on Oxfam's second hand store website where you can search for particular brands and sizes, and you can specify brand new items still with tags on, so you can even get decent bras new at reduced cost- the range of sizes varies depending on what's been donated, but I have seen some of the harder to find sizes as well as the standard ones.
Did you know that you can download Kindle for your computer or Droid for free? Not only that, they have hundreds of classic books for free as well. Dickens, Austen, wonderful literature. And a ton of books for kids. It's the summer - get them reading!
