What Maintenance Means

Maintenance does not mean perfection each and every day of our lives. It means staying in the ballpark! We stay in the game and we manage our foods and activity so that our weight stays within a couple of pounds of our goal weight. Maintenance is about living life how we enjoy it and fitting our eating into our lifestyle. Changes yes, but not a life of total restriction. Maintenance, Life is grand!

New Year, New You!

It's a new year, so start it off right by taking care of you. List the things that you want to do right this year. Check them off each day as accomplished. Strive to work harder tomorrow if you didn't achieve the entire list, but DON'T give up! You are sooooo worth the effort!!!

Walking The Dog

emoticon Tried walking your dog and he doesn't look as princely as the pooch in the emoticon? Try using a dog harness instead of a collar. My dear little Asher is a darling on his leash, but Gabby girl drags me and stops hard and will not move. What a terror! But give her a harness instead of a collar and walking is so much more fun now. We're back to some nice exercise when the weather is fine!

Had a GREAT day today?

Did you have a great day today? Did you make some AWESOME choices in this world fraught with unhealthy options? In the grocery this evening reward yourself with a single serving pint of berries ... oh how yummy and weight loss friendly! I'm not one to suggest food rewards often, but this one works nicely especially when others are indulging in holiday fare and you really do deserve a reward!

emoticon When you have a scale victory, CELEBRATE!!! I'm weighing folks in for Weight Watchers right now. What an awesome job! When they have a great weigh in, I jump up, high-five them and we do a little happy dance right there at the scale. Share your victory with someone else and have a little happy dance party! You've done a great thing when the scale moves down! Be sure that your head knows how proud you are that it and your body stayed on track this week!

What's the best exercise to start out with?

The best exercise to start out with is YOUR FAVORITE ONE! Do something you enjoy? Don't enjoy anything? OK. Pick something you enjoyed as a child. That will bring back some fond memories and you'll be more likely to stick with it. Too cold to go outside? Check out some workout DVD's from the Library before you buy. Try out some Spark workouts and see what you enjoy first. Do 10 minutes today and work up to 30 minutes. YOU can do this!!!!

Picture Time!

No matter where you are on your weight loss journey, it's picture time. Compare it to your before photo. Find the differences in you. See how you've changed. Let that motivate you!!! Then keep taking pictures. Every ten pounds. Once a month. Whatever suits your schedule, but do it! You'll be sooooo motivated!

Feeling a bit down?

Feeling a bit down? Do someone else a favor! Do a good deed. Step up to the plate and make the sacrifice for which there is no reward but feeling better about YOU!

My Weight Watchers meeting ran out of the new Getting Started books. My Leader was nearly in tears. She asked if I could go to another location to get some. I did. I was energized for the day! I got an email of thanks from her and the Territory Manager. I'm still smiling! Good deeds are noticed! And they do make us feel emoticon !

Need a pick me up?

Just feeling a little down and out of sorts? Need a pick me up? Do someone a favor!

I walked into my Weight Watchers meeting this morning and after weighing in, my friend, our Leader, pulled me to the side. She was running out of new books for the members. I hopped in my car and drove to the next town to get some. I missed the meeting, but everyone got their books! My friend and Leader had her day saved. And I felt soooo good. Doing that good turn for another felt sooooo wonderful!
