I take several different supplements a day (Vit D3, Iron, Multivitamin and fish oil) so to help me get my 8 glasses of water I take each pill at a different time of the day. I drink an entire glass of water with each pill. So instead of popping all four at once and drinking one glass of water, I take one in the morning, one at mid-morning, one at lunch, and one with dinner so I get 4 glasses of my daily intake just taking my vitamins!
Adding my MP3 player to my walks at lunchtime has made a huge difference. I keep pace better, I'm walking longer and further than ever. I feel relaxed after enjoying my favorite music and have a much better outlook when I have to go back to work.
Do you stop at the end of your driveway to get the mail when you come home? Or even pull up directly to the mailbox so you don't have to get out of the car? Next time, drive all the way up to the house and walk to the mailbox. May not be very far for some, but a few extra steps a day can't hurt!
I have a desk job, so to remember to get up now and then, I put on my "Ultimate Manilow" CD and whenever the song "Copacabana" comes on (about every hour), I get up and dance around my cube! (Luckily my cube is located in the corner of so no one can see!) Try it with your own favorite CD.
I have found that if I eat with chopsticks instead of spoons and forks, I eat slower, and take smaller amounts with each bite. (That's because the food keeps falling off! LOL)
I work on the second floor of our building. To add some exercise to my day, I've started using the restroom on the first floor instead of the one on my floor. And if I drink the water I'm supposed to every day, this adds at least 2 extra trips up and down the stairs a day.
Buy yourself a motivational outfit. Nothing too expensive, or extreme. Just a shirt or pants that are a size or two smaller that what you're wearing now. Hang it on your closet door so you can see it every day. Think how great you'll feel when you fit into it!
