Try Tabata

In just 4 minutes, you'll have a workout that leaves you breathless and sweaty.

There are several YouTube demo videos to follow, or you can just build your own once you get the rhythm of working all out for 20 seconds, then slowing way down for 10 seconds to catch your breath and repeating 7 more times for an intense 4-minute workout that will leave your metabolism revved for hours!

Try it. You may just find you love it!

Start TODAY!

It's easy to put off saving for "when I have more". However, you'll find that, just like with losing weight, if you start right where you are, putting away even just a few cents a day (or an ounce of body fat), in a year's time you will have significant savings (or have discarded several pounds of fat!)

Eat more vegetables and fruit

I find, the more veggies/fruit I squeeze into my day (as part of my meals, and as yummy snacks with hummus ...), the easier the weight comes off. Mostly because they fill me up for VERY few calories, and then I am not as hungry by the time the next "mealtime" rolls around.

Walk!

Think twice about driving to the corner store for those quick little items you need to round out tonight's meal! Not only does it save gas and spare the environment, but you also squeeze in a tiny bit of exercise that you wouldn't otherwise get. If your grocery store is close enough to walk to, bring along a back pack and shop more frequently - you'll get more exercise than ever, AND you will throw away less food due to spoilage!

Go Meatless more often

Seriously. If you stock up on staples (whole grains, beans, whole-wheat pastas), and buy in-season fruit and veggies, you will find that you save some serious money. A single serving of meat typically costs more than 2 or 3 servings of veggies and grains!

Of course, remember your portion sizes, and eschew processed (canned/packaged) items for the biggest savings. And yes, there are plenty of ways to get protein without meat/dairy!

Daily Deals save BIG bucks!

I signed up with my email address for some of those group-buying coupon places that send you a deal a day (50% to 80% off local restaurants, spas, all kinds of stuff!), and I've made some awesome purchases for rewards and gift-giving! 99 bucks for 6 sessions of laser hair removal, for example! :)

The trick is to only buy the REALLY good deals where it's something you were budgeting for anyway, otherwise the coupons can really lure you in. Try GROUPON, LIVINGSOCIAL, etc.

Eat salad

The more salad I eat, the less other stuff I feel like stuffing down my throat - it's actually stopped me from reaching mindlessly for snacks throughout the day!

Reward yourself FIRST!

I find that, for me, the carrot works better than the stick. I've been reaping the rewards before I sow ...

For example, this week, I bought myself some flowers on Monday - took them to work, kept them on my desk. The intense aroma and sheer beauty of the roses helped me say no to cravings!
