Every couple of days or so I empty out the coin purse part of my wallet and put it in my "piggy bank." Then once that is full I roll up the coins (I know, I know, I could take it to one of the Coinstar machines) because I like to do all of that myself. Once all of the coins are all rolled up I immediately take them and deposit them into my savings account. The last time I did this I think I had $50 worth of coins!
This really works! Saved me allot of space in my linen closet. I purchased the size that is for 1 comforter and 4 pillows. I fit 2 queen sized comforters and since I did not need it for pillows, I added 2 twin sized comforters. It filled the bag,but it all fit. Then when it shrunk down, it all fit in my closet. Amazing! A great idea.
I discovered a new and healthy breakfast that not only taste great but it is healthy too. I mixed 1 packet of Plain oatmeal and 4oz. of Unsweetened applesauce together. It was healthy and it filled me up for hours afterwards.
For no-fuss cleanup, instead of peeling fruits and vegetables over a cutting board or into the sink, do it over a plastic bag. When you're done, flip the peelings into the garbage and rinse the bag to reuse another day, or simply toss the whole shebang into the trash.
Plant Pelargoniums (scented geranium) near your patio this summer. When the mosquitoes start buzzing and making an evening in the garden a misery, pick leaves from the plants and rub the leaves over your arms and legs. This remedy has been used by African tribes for many years.
Sometimes when I'm running on the treadmill or elliptical, I feel like I'll never make it to my calorie-burning goal for the day. So I hop off after I've burned 100 or 200 calories, then go and do my strength training, or get a drink of water, or go to the bathroom...and then I hop back on. Burning 200 calories twice somehow feels less daunting than burning 400 in one go!
I rarely step on the scale anymore. My measuring tape is a much better indicator of my progress. Since muscle weighs more than fat in one's body and takes up less space, inches reduced tells a better story than a simple weight number. If the scale hasn't budged *and* I've lost a few inches, obviously I'm shedding fat and gaining muscle. So ditch the scale and get out your measuring tape once a month.
I drink 1 glass of water right after getting up (1). Then I drink a glass of water before breakfast, lunch and dinner (3). When I feel like eating a snack in the morning and afternoon, first I drink a glass of water (2). The two left, I just drink when I feel thirsty. :-)
Do you have candlesticks or other candle "plates" that have a built up of candle wax? If (like me) you do, just pop those into the freezer for a few hours and that wax comes right off! You can also use the freezer to get smells like fish or garlic off of Tupperware! Who knew?!
