Combating Sugar Cravings

If you find yourself struggling with craving sugary sweets, try grabbing a piece of your favorite fruit instead. You might be shorting yourself on the natural sugars in fruit, which may cause you to crave refined sugars. Over time you will likely find that you crave sweets less and crave fruits more.

Thanksgiving Oatmeal

Thanksgiving is upon us and pumpkin pie is a favorite dessert. Why not try a heaping tablespoon of canned pumpkin in your hot oatmeal with a little cinnamon and sweetened to your taste with honey. A half-cup serving of canned pumpkin supplies a staggering 300 percent of the DV for vitamin A from beta-carotene! Happy Thanksgiving!

Sweetening Hot Cereals Without Sugar

Most people don't like eating oatmeal plain, but what do you do if you want to avoid the sugar? I cook an apple or peach until it's soft, then stir it into my oatmeal with a little cinnamon. You get the natural sweetness of the fruit without all the processed sugars. Bon appetit!
