Secret to surviving a party

When I started loosing weight I went to a Halloween party. I noticed that all the heavy people were sitting near the buffet table with full plates while the thin people were dancing and mingling. I realized that if I wanted to be thin I had to ACT like the thin people. Instead of sitting close to he buffet table, why sit at all? Eat a healthy meal before I go and spend my party time enjoying the company of the active crowd. The hostess never even noticed that all I had was diet soda.

Even thin people have days when they over eat

One part of forgiving myself when I over eat is to look at what thin people do and try to copy it. If a thin person has an over eating day, they bump up the exercise and have a few lower calorie days to compensate for it. This is a "maintenance" strategy, but even in weightoss, it is easier for me if I see it as a one day delay in my goal instead of as a failure.

Just Play!

I always had walls around "exercise." It took me back to those humiliating days in grade school when I was the clumsy kid, last chosen.
I didn't have issues on the playground though. I could play on the bars, chase boys and play hide and seek.
If I get out there and just play, be it dance, act, chase the dog, ride a bike or swing on the swings, I CAN move my body and burn calories. It's just a paradigm shift. In my mind exercise is bad, but play is fun, So I choose to laugh and play.
