If you want to buy better quality clothes because they last longer and look better, or you find certain brands are the only ones that fit you well, try looking on Oxfam's second hand store website where you can search for particular brands and sizes, and you can specify brand new items still with tags on, so you can even get decent bras new at reduced cost- the range of sizes varies depending on what's been donated, but I have seen some of the harder to find sizes as well as the standard ones.
If you are tempted to make an impulse buy. , or you are too tired or rushed to evaluate it there and then, or you can see it is a good offer but you are without the car/have too much shopping to carry already/are on route and can't get it in the freezer, there is (in most/many shops in the uk) an end date for the offer. This gives me time to cool off on impulse buys , and I know if I need to make a special trip for a good offer, or if it can wait.
I walk home from work, which takes me past the supermarket just as they reduce the fruit & veg. I go straight to the reduced section, pick out some nice stuff for tea, saves money and I get more variety as I don't mind spending a few pence to try a new fruit or veg. I also get exercise and time to wind down from work, and save the bus fare. Now I also try to walk to work too, which feels much better than getting the bus, but it does mean I have to get up earlier so it doesn't always happen ;)
