I tend to consume more volume when I drink through a straw. With water, it's a great trick to get a little more. But all the stuff that has calories, i.e. my iced coffees, toss the straw and sip! It lasts longer and you drink less!
Tracking what I eat is key! The iPhone app is super easy and I always have it with me. Even a rushed lunch at my desk, I can enter what I eat while on hold or standing at the scanner! Plus, the little push you need to keep from eating the cupcakes that a coworker brought in is right there, in your phone!
