I favor the Nutritional and Fitness journals on SparkPeople.com but I also find when I carry a small notebook where I can make notes of each food I have eaten throughout the day, I tend to be much more successful. It is like a nice reward, to be able to write in your fitness minutes in a small personal journal, as soon as you get finished. This is part of being accurate, and it makes recording calories on the nutritional tracker quicker when you do not have time to record till later in the day
In the past, I was not much interested in drinking water or in exercising. Over the first six months on SparkPeople.com tracking, I found I was much more apt to be getting in the suggested number of cups of water, on the days I exercised, whether the exercise was walking or using my recumbent bike. Somehow, I have locked these two health ideas together! This is not my own original idea, because the concept is pure logic and has been recommended by others.
