If I make something and it's awful or if the portion is way too large or has too much sodium or is just wrong, I don't hesitate to toss it in the trash. I'm not listening to that voice saying, "eat everything on your plate." I know if it's in the garbage, it's gone and sometimes that is the best thing for me. Waste is bad, but weight is a killer!
I love earning trophies for Perfect Attendance, Consistency and Earning 500 Spark Points a Month. Those are things I absolutely control and help keep me motivated on days when I don't want to work out or eat right. Thanks SparkPeople!
I have a water bottle I've marked with 56 ounces, that's what it holds, and I know I can drink this throughout the day. With the water bottle I take to the gym which holds 24 ounces, I am getting at least 2 liters each day. It's easier with the marked bottles to help me track what I drink. What's amazing is that by using the marked bottles I actually drink more water throughout my whole day! Very hydrating!
Somehow when I think about drinking 8 glasses a water in day, I get overwhelmed. But when I think drink 1 glass for every hour I'm awake, it's doable. After being awake 12 hours, I have drank 96 ounces in a day. It's very manageable and I'm proud I reached my goal.
Even if Christmas isn't your holiday of choice, find one that you can embrace and jump into the spirit of celebrating. I love Thanksgiving and I cook fun foods for it throughout the whole month of Nov. I also like 4th of July and Groundhog's Day! It just makes me feel connected and joyful to celebrate the day with extra enthusiasm and in the company of others!
I love peanut butter on toast. I also love for it to melt into the bread and so, I spread a lot of peanut butter on the toast. Then, I smooth it off with my knife. I don't measure the portion size and serving because when I take off the peanut butter I know I have less than a tablespoon but I've teased myself with a little more of a treat. It makes me feel happy and full through my morning gym workout! Yum!
I've gone back to the Nutrition Tracker and recorded food that I've kept in a hand written food diary a day later or more. This really helps because I see what the vitamins, sodium, and calories really are instead of the estimates I give myself. I'm also proud of how close I stay within my calorie range when I eat out. I'm far from perfect, but this really helps!! And, it's pretty easy to do!
